Making Connections
My Loras experience has truly created "the big picture" for me as an individual. There have been various connections with my major courses, general education courses, and co-curricular areas. Taking classes fro my marketing major has introduced different themes that I have been able to connect to the real world. For example, I am able to make a connection out of an everyday activity to a specific marketing approach. My general education courses have served as a foundation of creating who I am as a student by setting a basis of how I learn and/or study. Finally, my extracurricular activities have helped me work as a team which has also been evident in a classroom setting instead of just on the field.
The theme I would use to summarize my Loras experience would be that practice and experience give you the upper hand for your future. Loras offers the opportunity to do a lot of hands on learning, which in the long run is very beneficial when considering the professional world. By making connections between courses that are not directly related to my major and ones that are for my major I am able to connect with more people and see the bigger picture easier than others. It just proves that you can always make connections and learn more no matter the subject. By taking courses for my major, advanced general education requirements, and participating in a sport throughout my four years has truly shaped me into who I am. I have been able to problem solve based on the connections of these different courses and activities because I have been exposed to more than others may have been. The Loras experience has made me into a more well-rounded student and individual. |
